Meet The Board
We are researchers, surgeons, academics, and persons whose lives have been touched by the devastation of burn injury. We care about advancing both the science and practice of burn care and recovery for its survivors.
B. Daniel Dillard previously served for 36 years as the Executive Director/CEO of the Burn Prevention Network, a 501(c)(3) corporation. Under his leadership, that organization delivered a diverse portfolio of fire safety, burn prevention and burn survivor support services to nearly 1-million beneficiaries annually. Several of these programs have been recognized nationally and video education products nominated for Emmy Awards. Dan has initiated a number of regional and statewide research-based intervention programs to include Youth Fire Misuse Intervention for children who have intentionally set destructive fires; and, Camp Susquehanna for children who have experienced serious burn injuries.
Dan is a frequent speaker nationally and has served as the Chairman of the American Burn Association (ABA) Burn Prevention Committee; the President of the Federation of Burn Foundations in North America; and has led a number of multi-organization national initiatives funded by the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF). He has been honored by the ABA as the recipient of its annual Burn Prevention Award. Dillard has extensive experience in strategic planning, board management, staff coordination and direction, fundraising, partnership coordination and public relations. Mr. Dillard is married, has 7 children, 18 grandchildren and counting!

Matt Ferdock has led in the CRO/FSP life science sectors for over 35 years, most notably founding DataCeutics, which is now known as Navitas Data Sciences. Here, he assembled a top-tier team of professionals focused on clinical data management, biostatistics, and reporting. As CEO, Dr. Ferdock pioneered the company's transformation into the first all-remote functional service provider (FSP) in 1993, achieving an impressively low turnover rate and maintaining over 20% annual growth in his last five years at the helm. As a global executive, he has driven substantial organizational changes, passionately advocating for the company's mission and enhancing employee motivation.
Dr. Ferdock played a key role in business development, actively maintaining and expanding client relationships, and consistently presented the company's mission and services in a highly positive light. His extensive expertise encompasses global FSP management, clinical research, biostatistical analysis, and IT compliance among other areas. Recently, Dr. Ferdock has also founded the medical device company ApperceptMD, became President of the Board of Directors for the Burn Prevention Network, and launched several other ventures including the real estate investment company Goose Mill Farm. Additionally, he teaches Ph.D.-level statistics, testing and measurement, and IO psychology at Liberty University.

Roselle Crombie, MD/MPH, FACS, FABA, a board-certified surgeon, specializes in general surgery, burn/wound surgery and surgical critical care. Dr. Crombie’s particular passions are burn and trauma reconstruction, general surgery, incisional hernia, lumbar hernia, recurrent hernia, spigelian hernia, umbilical hernia and ventral hernia. She prides herself on constantly pushing for change and awareness to improve care delivery. Education of the next generation of physicians and surgeons has remained an imperative part of her career and has been highly involved as a faculty member in the Yale School of Medicine’s department of surgery over the course of her career. Dr. Crombie enjoys giving a variety of lectures to further the fields of her expertise. Her research publications have previously involved basic science of cytokines in various inflammatory processes, including IL-8/VEGF, TNF-alpha, TGF-Beta and IL-1 in addition to more clinical based burn and wound topics.
Dr. Crombie earned her medical and graduate degrees from the University of Connecticut. She completed her general surgery training at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass. Her post-graduate fellowships were in burn surgery and surgical critical care at the Yale University School of Medicine, where she currently remains on faculty. Nationally, she served as the 32nd President of the North American Burn Society and presently serves as an ethics committee member at Bridgeport Hospital and formerly for the American Burn Association (ABA). Dr. Crombie is a Fellow of the ABA and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is involved in several national women’s surgeon group societies. She is currently the vice president program chair and executive board member for the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (CTACS) and ABA.
Dr. Crombie is actively serving as the Physician Special Interest Group (SIG) Chair for the ABA and has served in the Military Burn Research Program’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (MBRP-CDMRP). She’s serving as a reviewer for the Journal of Burn Care and Research and Journal of Burns and Wounds and is a skin substitutes consensus committee member for the Journal of Wound Care. Her CV includes numerous publications and book chapters. In her free time, she enjoys family time on the water and skiing with her husband and three children. She is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery (ABS).

Dr. Sigrid A. Blome-Eberwein has established a remarkable career as a medical professional, specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery with a particular focus on burn care. She has held significant positions since the beginning of her career, following her medical education at Freie Universität Berlin and subsequent residencies in general surgery and plastic reconstructive and hand surgery at prestigious institutions in the United States and Germany. As an attending surgeon, Dr. Blome-Eberwein has been instrumental in advancing burn care techniques, evident in her role as the Associate Medical Director at the Regional Burn Center at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Her extensive research in burn surgery, pain control, and reconstructive techniques highlights her commitment to medical innovation and patient care.
Over the years, Dr. Blome-Eberwein's contributions to the field have been recognized through multiple awards, such as the Medical Staff Physician Research Award and several Service Star Awards from Lehigh Valley Health Network for her dedication to patient education and exceptional care. Her leadership extends beyond clinical practice into academia, where she serves as a faculty member and mentor at several institutions, and she has been a prolific contributor to professional journals and conferences on topics ranging from laser treatments for burn scars to innovative surgical practices. Her work not only enhances the quality of life for burn survivors but also furthers the knowledge and techniques available to her colleagues in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Kelley is an award-winning (e.g., best teaching award, scholar of the year award, and researcher of the year from different medical societies) and widely-published scientist and public health expert who supported his own research career through a variety of institutional, regional, and national grants. Dr. Kelley has worked in academia for over two decades as well as worked with a variety of not-for-profit organizations and medical centers to help create innovation and secure foundation, city, state, and federal funds to support biomedical (basic and applied), education (technology and pedagogy), prevention research (substance abuse, STD/HIV-AIDS, and mental illness), and workforce development (technology, healthcare, and rural), and he has served as a grant reviewer for several granting agencies.
Not only is Dr. Kelley proficient in program development, implementation, and evaluation, but he has many years of experience as a methodologist and statistician. Dr. Kelley has done extensive work in the areas of substance abuse, from translation research to clinical trials to large prevention efforts, but he has also worked in many areas in health care innovation and community improvement efforts. Dr. Kelley currently serves as a reviewer for several prestigious medical journals including Life Sciences, Journal of Developmental Psychobiology, Biological Psychiatry, Journal of Neuroscience Methods, and Pharmacology, Biochemistry, and Behavior, and he served on the editorial board of Neurotoxicology and Teratology for 10 years. His broad background, spanning areas from molecular biology to clinical trials to community-wide prevention programs, has provided him with many unique opportunities to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals.
